PART 1: WHEN THE REVOLUTION COMES I WANT TO BE A HOUSEWIFE

As she decodes the stereotype of the housewife, Stella impassions other definitions - “lady of the house” “the home engineer” “mistress of management” - to dismantle and disclose radical independence via the banal. This durational installation tells the story over the course of 6 hours, through three episodic performances and live video interludes. Stella Fontinella is crazy about feminism, social commentary, and magic.

PART 2: FUTURE SPEAK

In this installment, Stella Fontinella returns as a switchboard operator in the midst of a rare moment where she is communicating with the past and future simultaneously. As she connects and disconnects, the TV imagery magically changes accordingly. The scene begins in a routine fashion as Stella answers calls and connects them, TV visuals ensue. Over the course of the evening the communications get discombobulated and more intense, ultimately Stella becomes entangled in Time, both literally and figuratively.

PART 3: STINKY KNITS: A FEMINIST HISTORY, FABRICATED, UNABRIDGED

For the final performance of the trilogy, Stinky Knits (a palindrome), Stella Fontinella explores “women’s work” through a durational performative installation. Stella carefully weaves the room, creating a structure, a dimensional graph, an identity in time and space. Constructing a construct, only to emerge trapped in its web.....
